Escapades

Outings for Teenagers with Intellectual Disability

Our Escapades outings program is specifically tailored for all neurotypes such as; ADHDers, Autistic and socially anxious teenagers and high school students with a diagnosed mild to moderate intellectual disability. In keeping with our philosophy, Escapades follows a strengths based approach adhering to neurodiversity-affirming practice. 

This small group session provides teenagers with an opportunity to learn about and develop their authentic social communication in a fun, supportive and neurodiversity-affirming space.

Examples of Activities and Outings include;

  • Visits to cafes
  • Bowling
  • Bushwalks
  • Pizza making
  • Art lesson
  • Transport day

Individuals need to be able stay with a group, as well as independently manage hygiene and safety.

How long does the course run for?

Fortnightly 90 minute sessions for 8 weeks

Building Bonds

Construction Play-Based Social Communication

Our Construction, Play-Based Social Communication Groups are designed for all neurotypes such as; ADHDers, Autistic and socially anxious children of all ages. In keeping with our philosophy, Building Bonds follows a strengths based approach adhering to neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Along with the support of Speech Pathologists, this group provides a safe opportunity for children to interact with their authentic communication and play styles, while learning to self-advocate. These groups offer a range of building materials to support our participant’s wide interests while also supporting their varying motor abilities. Types of materials include LEGO, Duplo, magnetic blocks, wooden blocks and craft.
